Areas of Practice

I practice as barrister sole in the Auckland Region, specializing in criminal litigation in the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, High Court and District Court (including the Coroner’s Court). I have extensive experience as Senior Criminal Advocate for clients charged with serious indictable crime.

I am an approved contract listed provider for the Legal Services Agency for all categories with the highest experience level of 4, namely for murder and/or crimes with maximum sentences of life imprisonment and for all appeals to the Court of Appeal and to the Supreme Court. I am a court approved youth advocate for indictable crimes.

I participate as a regular tutor for the Auckland District Law Society Police Court Workshop and have presented many seminars for the Auckland District Law Society Continuing Education Programme.

I have appeared in the Coroners Court for all parties and have acted for parties involved in sports law prosecutions and related litigation before the tribunal and all appellate courts. I have appeared in all courts including appellate courts for fisheries prosecutions and related litigation.

I have represented employers and insurers in departmental and ministerial prosecutions and was chair of the OSH 2000 Health and Safety Conference for the Institute for International Research. I am a past author of numerous articles on health and safety for New Zealand publications; the “Safeguard Magazine”; “Your Safety Newspaper”.
